Last week, I attended a local real estate meetup here in South Jersey and it turned out to be a refreshing mix of learning, networking, and real conversations.
The night kicked off with a 30-minute networking session, giving everyone a chance to introduce themselves, talk shop, and enjoy some pizza. I met a great mix of people that included realtors, property managers, investors, and short-term rental owners all working on different kinds of projects but facing many of the same challenges.
A Real Conversation About Real Estate Appraisals
After networking, we shifted into a learning session — but it wasn’t your typical lecture. We all gathered around the same table for an interview-style discussion with a 25-year appraisal expert, who broke down how appraisers think, what truly affects property value, and how real estate professionals can better prepare for (and benefit from) the process.
Everyone had a voice. People asked questions, shared their experiences, and learned from someone who’s been doing this for decades. It was collaborative, insightful, and honestly one of the more engaging formats I’ve seen at a meetup.
Real Talk: Yes, There Were Sales Pitches
To be fully transparent, a few attendees were clearly there to pitch services — from marketing packages to real estate tools — which can be distracting. But I made it a point to stay focused on why I came: to learn something useful and connect with like-minded professionals.
And I did. I walked away with some great new contacts — including a few realtors, property managers, and rental owners — and some practical insight I can pass along to my own clients.
Shoutout to the Organizer
One of the best parts? The meetup was incredibly well-run. The organizer did a great job keeping things on track and creating an environment where people could actually connect and learn. This wasn’t just another salesy networking event — it had purpose and structure.
And the best part? This is just the beginning. There are more events planned, and I’m looking forward to showing up, learning more, and continuing to build relationships within the local real estate community.
Want to Connect?
If we met at the event — great talking with you!
If we didn’t, but you’re in the real estate space and want help with your bookkeeping, cash flow, or just need someone to help clean up the numbers behind the scenes — I’m here.
Let’s make sure your financial foundation is just as strong as the properties you’re building.
